God is listening.

I briefly interrupt my Ali al-Wardi postings to proclaim something that I realized while I was chatting yesterday with a friend, god exists, because:

A. I say so
B. We were talking about Azuz's lung cancer. My friend, a Christian doctor of high calibre, said that he'd give Azuz four months, as you know and I vaguely knew, cancer is extremely difficult if it is discovered later, this is especially true for lung cancer, and Wikipedia says that the 5-year survival rate for lung cancer patients is 14%. As you would lovingly noticed, I put Abdilaziz al-Hakim's name first on my God's Dead Pool on the right, miracle? Allah be praised. To celebrate this, I have decorated Azuz's name in yellow, much to the disdain of my sectarain friend, Shaqawa.

If indeed al-Hakim bites one last cigarette and goes in search for his lost brother, this would create a very vague power vaccum at Badr/SIIC/UIA, first, Hakim Jr, a smiling dude who looks a lot like high-school homosexual cannon fodder, is highly unqualified for this task, there are a lot of hawks at SCIRI, sorry, SIIC so while they cannot risk not crowning Uday, I'm sorry, Ammar's hand because the heavyweight clerical Hakim name means unquestioning public approval, my guess is that he would be a puppet in the hands of someone much more agile. Hadi al-Amiri, head of Badr Corps, is butch, and there's also one of the most wicked faces i ever saw, Jalal al-Din al-Sagheer. One can never forget somebody like Big Bear-double Adil Abdulmahdi, so it's a very interesting issue. Anyway, I am going to pray now. oh God, look at the rest of the list, NEXT NEXT NEXT!

You're a funny Kid:) That was pretty stupid of Badr to go after innocent Sunni Arabs, as if that helped anything. But I'm not sure what his brother did that was so bad. The bomb that killed him also killed 80 innocent bystanders.

Hi KId
Well, as a doctor as a human being and as muslim I should never say it.
But in fact I agree with you.
I can't deny that I've been happy since I heard the news and I'm trying to make sure that he is in pain.

:O

I think you and Shaqawa would get along very well if you were on the same side!

Well, since he's not dead yet I have taken the liberty to make fun of him before it becomes morally inaccurate to make fun of the dead.

hi everyone... so is someone from the hakim family dying?! who?! i don't get it, im trying to search in bbc, aljazeera and alarabiya...pls advice.

"A. I say so"___The best and only reason. ;-)

As for lung cancer, yes about 6 months from diagnosis is typical. The chemo does work for a few people. It is a painful illness, and the chemotherapy increases the suffering. (But might work.)

anon...just search in Google News "al-Hakim lung cancer".

Didn't you make fun of his "lost" brother? Don't worry about morals, Kid. I've made fun of Saddamihsain after his death. Speak your mind.

With any luck,Iraqis will turn more to secular candidates in '09. It's pretty obvious the sectarian idiots are accomplishing a damn thing.

thanks kid, i searched and found something even more interesting!!

"News of Al Hakim's diagnosis came only hours after another key Iraqi leader, 73-year-old President Jalal Talabani, flew to the United States for a medical checkup, nearly three months after he was hospitalised in Jordan after collapsing.

"I don't have any health problems except my obesity and I will treat it, God willing," a statement quoted Talabani as saying."

no matter how disapporivng we are of these people, my recently-certified sense of morality doesn't allow me to be satirical when it comes to this..

Kid, does it really matter who succeeds Al-Hakim as leader of SIIC?.. I, for one, dont give a toss to be perfectly honest.. what we should be worried about is ensuring that the religious exploitation SIIC has excercised over the past 4 years diminshes.. we dont want to be the sheep of SIIC just because we visit the same shrines and attend the same commemoration ceremonies..

This wave of individuals who hijacked Iraqi politicss.. how are we going to get out of it? They're to stay in office for years.. are UIA and the sunni blocs going to be Iraq's answer to America's Republicans and Democrats.. will they remain the dominant political powers in Iraq for the next century?

That worries me..

Your death wish-list, do you mind adding someone who's got as much blood on her hands as Hitler?.. BEZZA.. thank you!

who is bezza?

God, please reward your believers and relieve us from the pigs ruling us and their little piggies as well!!

lol, kid :) I love your little "wish- list."

I, my self, have a count down to Bush's last day on my myspace... The numbers are kinda big, and its depressing... but I'm patient. I just hope he doesn't go bomb the fuck out of Iran before Hillary or Barak (or, Hell, Nader. Any one is better than THIS Asshole) take office. Cuz that's just what we need.

programmer craig said...

Anastasia,

It would be better if Bush bombs the fuck out of Iran his last two weeks in office. Then the next President can be "blameless" - because the next President would have to do it, anyway... whoever it is. Are you really so anxious to hate the next President, too?

By the way, I've always wanted to ask somebody like you this... did you hate Bill Clinton for bombing the fuck out of Serbia? Or is only evil when a Republican does it?

programmer craig said...

Oh, nevermind... I see from your profile that you are 17. You were... 9 years old when Clinton bombed the fuck out of Serbia? Can't expect a 9 year old to have formed political opinions :)

Programmer Craig-

Good questions! (Like your picture, too.)

yah- lol. That would be ideal, if he did that, wouldn't it?

Well, I'm flattered that you thought I was older, and you don't have to go easy on me because I'm a kid.

That said, unfortuinatly, my opinions are very tainted. Having only lived 17 years, and having become aware of politics and world events around 9/11. (I was almost twelve, then.) I'm afraid I can't give you an answer about if its only bad if a Republican does it. The only thing I remember from a democratic reign was Clinton's little fling with Miss Lewinsky. (And I only remember that because I had to pretend not to know what "sexual relations" were... apparently Clinton was in a similar predicament...)

I guess I can assume that I would have formed the same opinion of Bush if he was a Democrat. And the Democratic party would be suffering the same way the Republican party is, because of him. This is a shame, because there might be some really good Republican candidates up for office that don't stand a chance, now.

I think that we're not in a position to be bombing the shit out of any one soon. Unless they bring back the draft we will never recruit enough troops to handel Iraq and Afghanistan AS WELL AS Iran. I'm in High School- I see them trying to recruit. It's not looking so great. And I did some research- the stats proove what I already noticed in practice- the army needs more people, bad.

Plus, public support is pretty important, and people have been really pesky since after WWII- They're getting really hard to brain wash. Unless you get Oprah on your side, that is.

I hope I don't hate the next President... but perhaps only the young are naieve enough to have such hopes. *sigh* the world really sucks.

Hi Anastasia,

I think that we're not in a position to be bombing the shit out of any one soon. Unless they bring back the draft we will never recruit enough troops to handel Iraq and Afghanistan AS WELL AS Iran.

I think you are wrong. For one thing, we have over 1.5 million people on active duty in the US military.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0883073.html

We have only 10% of that number in Iraq, and over half the people in Iraq are reservists. So, we have less than 5% of out active duty military in Iraq. We have only 15,000 people total in Afghanistan, reserves and active duty combined.

U.S. Military Personnel on Active Duty in Selected Regions/Countries

As you can see from that link, two thirds of the US military is in the United States.

To get into more detail, there is 1 active duty Army Division in Iraq, plus a couple brigades. There is 1 active duty Marine Division in Iraq, plus a Marine Expeditionary Unit.

The Army brigades and the MEU are the "surge" and will not be there indefinately.

So, 1 division of Marines, 1 division of Army.

US has 10.5 Army Divisions, and 4 Marine Divisions.

Also, who says the US will still have troops in Iraq, next year? I personally believe US troops will be withdrawn before Bush leaves office. The case for leaving US troops in Iraq is weak, and it's an unpopular mission.

We certainly can handle a military engagement with Iran. No problem. The only shortfall will be in our strategic reserve forces. It's been US policy since the Cold War to hold the bulk of our troops back from engagements, as a contingency in case a major power (like China or Russia) attempt to take advantage of a messy military engagement the US gets involved in. That would be a serious worry if the US had to send a million troops into Iran. But, we deployed 2.5 million troops to Kuwait and Saudi during the first Gulf War. So, it's a risk the US is willing to take. We have before.

I'm in High School- I see them trying to recruit. It's not looking so great. And I did some research- the stats proove what I already noticed in practice- the army needs more people, bad.

And all they have to do to get them, is lower standards. Which I would not like to see, but it is possible. That would be preferable to a draft, in any case.

I joined the Marines when I wasn't much older than you. That was during Reagan's first term. Reagan had over 5 million troops in the US military - and that was an all volunteer force. No draft.

Plus, public support is pretty important, and people have been really pesky since after WWII- They're getting really hard to brain wash. Unless you get Oprah on your side, that is.

There is public support for taking action against Iran. You aren't old enough to recall all the bad blood between US and Iran. But I am. And most Americans are. We have an aging population in the US now... young people like you are the minority :)

I hope I don't hate the next President... but perhaps only the young are naieve enough to have such hopes. *sigh* the world really sucks.

I loved Reagan when I was your age. I still do. He's the only US President during my lifetime that I had a lot of respect for.

PS-To me, the current crop of Presidential candidates doesn't look good. There isn't anyone, Republican or Democrat, that I want to vote for. I guess maybe I'll just pick the least bad :(
