Sarafiya Bridge Re-Opened.

I can't believe it, it was as if from a parallel universe ; something actually was accomplished in Iraq - they have actually managed to reopen the Sarafiya Bridge. I am praying at the rate of 1000 prayers/hour that it doesn't prove me wrong and collapse because of cheap materials while some sleazy contractor is laughing his ass-cheeks somewhere far away from Iraq, I remember I was frothing mad when the bridge I passed countless times was destroyed a year ago by a terrorist attack. Shgad 3eb.

I remember how happy I was when our Iraqi team won [by the way, it has sucked balls recently in the World Cup qualification stage] but afterwards I found out that nothing really changed, we all love Iraq, and we want it to be something, unfortunately that something is still imaginary, and there isn't much to be optimistic about its realization in the long-run, but let us enjoy, for once, this moment in a silly larger-than-life fashion and say that the Iraqis are not just a random collection of sects but have gelled into becoming fully aware of their destiny as one nation and have had enough bloodshed. I liked Maliki yesterday, I never really criticized him, but I've always feared that he is marginal in reality. Let us hope, however silly and unrealistic our hope might be, that he proves us wrong. Thank you Abu Israa. Lak wuda3til abbas inta a7san zmal beehum.

This is good news indeed, I'm going to celebrate, I'll turn on Iraqi Jewish singer Salima Murad's Ala Shawati Dijala Murr (a song about Dijla (Tigris), which runs under al-Sarafiya), I can't adhrub talqaat here so I'll just adhrub jilikh, before I go to sleep. Good night. let's hope it's the last time Sarafiya will be reopened.

That is definitely good news. I think it will cheer up many people in Baghdad. But I guess the restoration makes the bridge even more a target for terrorists, so they can prove that nothing the Iraqis do is any use. Let's hope they fail.

my guess is terrorist goal is the failure of the occupation and their puppets, NOT what iraqis do. i would imagine if iraqis are doing the construction, as opposed to foreign contractors, it will have a more likely chance of not being targeted. let's hope it stays safe.

Abbas,

I am praying that this new accomplishment will remain a success as well. The "resistance" may be able to sabotage Iraq's infrastructure, but they can never break the will of Iraqis who are truly dedicated to the prosperity of their country.

That's because you're blind and an idiot. Only an idiot would have respect for a puppet.

ok, we need a good laugh today.. this is really funny. as someone in the comment section pointed out, the US administration is self satirizing!

You gotta love anonymous comments sometimes.

What about the terrorist who blew the bridge up in the first place? Was he taking a stand against the occupation?

Not if the terrorist bombing was related to the terrorists who committed this crime

Check this out.

Iraqirabita quoting an eyewitness lives in Al-Atafiya – western side of the river says she woke up 07,10 this morning because of the unusual sounds of Americans helicopters above the river Tigris.

I thought that this a beginning of an raid in our neighborhood, to be sure I went upstairs to see where are these helicopters are heading to.

I saw with my own eyes a helicopter firing two missiles, I heard an explosion, then I saw the bridge collapsed.

Another report says…..It is interesting to note this morning Iraqi police blocked the traffic on the bridge for more than two hours, shortly before the explosion they allowed civilians cars to cross the river, which confirms that there is an orchestrated destruction of Al-Sarafiya bridge and resumption of movement by the time of the bombing was to cover up the actions of the "bombers"ز

If you think that this is a joke then here is the Chairman of Iraqi parliament "Al-Mashadani" also questions this act revealing that this planed a month ago to separate Baghdad’s both sides, making it easy to control

This wasn't the first time the 'terrorists' explosions aligned perfectly with occupation plans.

Annie is already ruining this comments page.

Abbas, c'mon. I don't care if you ban me, but if you want to keep any commenters you'll have to do something with Annie. She absolutely rotted Omar's comments page. It's going to happen to you too.

Awwwww, Abbas, don't be so hard on Annie. Let her stay. But only IF she answers one question:

Does she support the attempts of the insurgency to violently overthrow the Iraqi government, or not?

I look forward to her concise and honest answer.

;)

OK, I'll go be banned now.

earth to those who have been banned...all one has to do is google bombing of sarafiya bridge, as i did, to run into the second link which i posted. it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whose plan the bombing sync'd w/perfectly.

you can't expect me to let a ridiculous comment like ch's to go unchallenged do you? the concept the resistance has less interest in the will of Iraqis who are truly dedicated to the prosperity of their country than say.. the occupation, who are under the command of powers who clearly want to reap rewards from iraqs resources REGARDLESS OF THE COST OF HUMAN BLOOD... goes against the grain of common sense.

all iraqis want prosperity for their country. they differ over many aspects, in astoundingly different ways. but lets not pretend the occupation, george bush and the zionist neonuts know what's best for iraq. they don't. even the troops (including iraqs') want bush and the rethugs out of office and reject mcCain.

then we get the bait of ch's next question, w/the PRESUMPTION of who the 'terrorists' who blew up the bridge were.. its throwing red meat. hey, i posted the second most trafficed link re the bridge bombing. common knowledge to anyone paying attention. you're playing kill the messenger.

is that all you got? you want your team to get a free pass when your specialty is strawmen?

losers.

btw, the first anon wasn't me. i entered this thread w/hope for the best regarding the bridge, it is really good news. todays terrorists, tomorrows awakening. it's all in the lens you choose to view it. degrading iraqis aint my bag. nothing is going to improve in any significant way until they unite. chances are that won't be over the occupation. if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. get out of the way.
you're playing on the wrong team. quit calling everyone you don't like a terrorist, especially when your 'side' uses terrorist tactics, as anyone w/a brain knows we do.

Yes Annie, Iraqis want prosperity for their country, and that includes not having their neighborhoods, markets, and public transport blasted by car bombs and martyrdom-seeking fanatics.

I have the "ridiculous comment". You've got to be kidding me. Annie, they just landed a rover on Mars, but between you and me, I think there's more to it...the US is gearing up towards an occupation!!

How will the martians respond? Will we blow up their bridges too?

it includes other things too, like not having an invading occupation w/rouge militias like blackwater free to murder anyone they damn well please w/NO recourse from their laws or any punishment metered out!

you speak of markets and public transport but cluelessly ignore who controls the airspace and the thousands of innocents killed by our airbombings in 'collateral damage'.

you want to pretend the occupations crimes amount to aliens from mars. go for it. i won't be joining you in your fantasy.

it is abundantly clear the new tactic for countering my arguments is the 'nonsensical' or anands 'too deep' meme. maybe if the audience is composed of idiots they will follow suite. but i seriously doubt you will have any takers.

mars? boring.
